Bang Bang Crawfish

Bang Bang Crawfish

Anytime my family is at a restaurant and there is “bang bang shrimp” on the menu, my Husband always orders it. I decided to make it at home but instead of shrimp, I used crawfish. He absolutely loved them! Bang bang sauce is a creamy, sweet and spicy sauce that pairs great with anything fried. If you want to use shrimp, you definitely can. For this recipe, I used frozen crawfish tails, but you can use fresh if you have them on hand. Anytime you are using frozen seafood that does not have a shell, you can soak it in milk to get that fishy frozen taste out. Add 1lb of frozen crawfish tails to a bowl and add 1 cup of whole milk. Allow the crawfish to soak in the milk for at least 30 minutes.

Once they are done soaking, drain the milk and rinse the crawfish.

In a bowl, beat one egg and a splash of water. Add the egg mixture to the crawfish tails.

Season the crawfish with 5-6 dashes of hot sauce and 1 tsp of cajun seasoning. Mix well and make sure the crawfish is fully coated.

In a separate dish, add 3 cups of flour. Season the flour with 1 tbsp of cajun seasoning, 1 tbsp of paprika, 1 tbsp garlic powder and 1 tbsp of onion powder.

Add the crawfish tails to the flour and make sure they are fully coated.

Add the crawfish tails to hot oil and fry 2-3 minutes or until the crawfish is golden brown.

Once all of the crawfish tails are cooked, its time to make the bang bang sauce. In a bowl, add 1 tbsp of mayonnaise, 1 tsp sriracha sauce, 1 tsp sweet chili sauce and the juice of 1/2 lemon. Mix well.

Add the crawfish tails to a bowl and pour the sauce on top. Toss the crawfish tails in the sauce.

Top with chopped green onions and serve and ENJOY!
