Stuffed Shells
Stuffed Shells
By now, you should know that I absolutely love pasta, so these stuffed pasta shells are definitely a must if you are a pasta lover like myself. You can always get creative with these and stuff them with any filling. For this recipe, I decided to keep it traditional and stuff it with ricotta cheese. The next time I make these, it will have a different filling. To start, boil one box of jumbo pasta shells in salted water. Boil according to the package directions.
In a skillet, cook 1/2 lb of ground beef and 1/2 lb of ground Italian sausage. Feel free to use ground turkey in this recipe if you are not a fan of beef or pork.
Cook until the ground meat is brown. Season with 1 tsp of onion powder, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp garlic salt and 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes.
To the meat, add your favorite pasta sauce. Feel free to make your own, but I like the jar sauce. It is less hassle and tastes great.
While the pasta shells are still cooling, in a bowl, add the ricotta, 1 egg and 1/2 tsp garlic salt. Mix well until it is smooth and creamy.
Pour enough sauce to cover of the baking dish. Add 1-2 tsps of ricotta mixture to each pasta shell. Line the pasta shells in the baking dish.
Pour the remaining sauce over the top of the shells. Cover with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Put in a 350 degree oven for 20-30 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted.
Remove from the oven and serve with garlic bread and a salad to have a complete meal. ENJOY!
