Potstickers
Homemade Potstickers
Potstickers are little bites of goodness! Anything that is “steam-fried”, you know will be delicious. You can get creative with these dumplings and stuff them with any filling you like. The authentic dumpling is stuffed with ground pork and cabbage. I decided to stick with the ground pork but I used fresh green onion instead of the cabbage. The green onion gives it a better flavor. If you are not a fan of pork, ground chicken or turkey will work perfectly! Grab 1/2 pound of ground pork and 1/3 cup of chopped green onion and mix in a bowl. Season with 1 tbsp garlic salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper and mix.
Dip the wonton wrappers in water. Use the round wrappers but if you have the square ones, cut them in circles.
Spoon 1 tsp of mixture into the wrappers. Do not over stuff or the wrappers will not close. Fold and pinch tightly to close the potsticker.
Repeat until all of the mixtures is used. Should make about 12-15 potstickers.
In a skillet, add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot, add 8-10 the potstickers at a time, depending on the size of the skillet. Cook 3-5 minutes on each side. Allowing the potsticker to brown.
Once the potstickers have browned on each side, add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and then immediately cover with a lid.
Cook for 10-12 minutes or until the filling is fully cooked on the inside.
For a good dipping sauce, add 1/4 cup of soy sauce and 2 tbsp of sweet chili sauce to a bowl and stir. Serve the potstickers with the dipping sauce and ENJOY!
