Hot Honey Chicken Strips
Hot Honey Chicken Strips
Recently, the most popular wing restaurant released a new hot honey flavor and you know I had to try them. I was pleasantly surprised since it had a sauce and a rub on the wings. After tasting it, I knew I had to make my own recipe. I told my family my idea and my daughter requested chicken strips, so I made them with chicken strips instead of wings but these will also be perfect on chicken wings. Add 1 lb of chicken breast tenderloins to a bowl with 1 cup of buttermilk and 6-8 dashes of hot sauce. Let the strips marinate for at least 30 minutes.
In a bowl, add 2 cups of flour and season it with 1 tbsp of cajun seasoning, 1 tbsp of onion powder, 1 tbsp of paprika and 1 tbsp of garlic powder.
Fully coat each chicken strip in the flour and set aside. Repeat until all of the chicken strips are coated.
Add 2-3 cups of vegetable oil to a cast iron skillet. Once the oil has reached 350 degrees, add 3-4 chicken strips at a time and cook 5-7 minutes or until they are fully cooked. Remove from the oil and add to a baking rack to drain any excess oil. Repeat until all of the chicken strips are cooked.
In a bowl, add 1 tbsp of chili powder, 1 tbsp of garlic powder, 1 tbsp of paprika, 1 tbsp of onion powder, 1 tbsp of cayenne pepper, 1 tbsp of garlic salt and 1 tsp of dried parsley and stir well.
In a pot, add 1/2 stick of butter. Once the butter melts, add 1 tbsp of honey and 1 tbsp of the rub seasoning and stir well.
Cook 1 minute or until all of the ingredients are mixed in. Pour the sauce on top of the chicken strips and toss or use a basting brush to coat the strips. Make sure each strip is fully coated.
Once the strips are coated, sprinkle the dry rub seasoning on top of each strip.
Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and ENJOY!
