Mummy Poppers

Mummy Poppers

Happy Halloween!!!! A few years ago, a friend of mine wanted a Halloween themed baby shower and I made these for the shower and they were a HIT! Everyone kept talking about how delicious they were. These little appetizers will hit all of your tastebuds, sweet, salty and spicy. I think that is what makes them so delicious. You can get creative with these and fill them with whatever you would like, but since my friend loves buffalo chicken, these were perfect for her. The eyes are made out of candy, but feel free to use any eyes you can find. Just make sure you let your guests know if they are edible or not. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. For these poppers, start by slicing fresh jalapenos in half and remove the seeds. Be sure to use gloves for this or your hands will burn. Trust me, it has happened to me and it is not a good feeling LOL.

Unroll 1 can of crescent dough onto a cutting board. Pince and smooth out the serrated lines to make the dough into one big square shape.

Using a knife or a pizza cutter, cut thin 1/4 inch strips in the dough.

In a bowl, add 1 8 oz block of softened cream cheese, 1 cup of diced cooked chicken (feel free to use a store-bought rotisserie chicken), 1 cup of buffalo sauce, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and 1/2 pack of 1 oz ranch seasoning and stir well. Feel free to use the whole pack of ranch seasoning for more ranch flavor.

Fill the jalapenos with 1 tbsp of mixture and spread evenly.

Once all of the jalapenos are filled, wrap the cut pastry dough around each one of them. They dont have to be perfect, just make sure to leave an open space for the eyes.

Brush the dough with an egg wash (1 egg and a splash of water mixed well).

Add to a 375 degree oven and cook for 10-13 minutes or until the pastry dough is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and add the eyes to each jalapeno.

Display them on a cute Halloween platter and serve and ENJOY!
