Cheeseburger Macaroni
Cheeseburger Macaroni
As a kid, when my mom didnt feel like cooking, she would grab a boxed version of cheeseburger macaroni and that was dinner. She always made it her own by adding more spices and different ingredients to it, such as onions or bell pepper. After it was prepared, it didnt seem like it was from a box. As I got older, I realized that I could do the same thing, but better. I decided to create my own version and take it up a notch. This recipe is made with ground beef but you could also use ground turkey and it will taste just as good. This is another quick and easy one pot meal, which are my favorites. Brown 1 lb of ground meat. Do not drain the excess grease, that is going to add more flavor to the sauce.
Add minced garlic and tomato paste. The tomato paste adds a rich flavor to the ground beef. Stir in the tomato paste until it is mixed in well and the ground beef has turned a dark red color.
Another level of flavor comes from the worcestershire sauce. It adds a tangy, sweet and salty flavor to the dish. Once the worcestershire sauce is added, pour in the elbow pasta. Feel free to use the pasta of your choice.
Add beef broth and cover. Cook 15-18 minutes or until the pasta is al dente, tender and slightly firm.
Once the pasta is cooked, add onion powder and cajun seasoning. Taste and make sure it is seasoned to your liking.
Add shredded cheese and heavy cream to the pasta. This will create a creamy cheese sauce.
Stir and serve with garlic bread and a salad for a complete meal. ENJOY!
