Seafood Dip
Seafood dip
If you need a quick and flavorful dip to make for an appetizer, this is the perfect recipe. Whenever I am with my family in Louisiana, they always need an appetizer before Thanksgiving dinner and this is it. We are huge seafood lovers and this is a winner every time. This recipe calls for lump crab meat but I know it can be pretty pricey, so you can use the claw meat instead. You could also use shrimp in this recipe to add more seafood flavor. I decided to keep it simple and use crab meat and crawfish tails. You can find the frozen crawfish tails in the freezer section at any grocery store. Remember to always soak the crawfish tails in whole milk at least 30 minutes before using. This will remove the “fishy” taste from the frozen crawfish tails. In a bowl, add one block of softened cream cheese. If your cream cheese is not soft, add it to the microwave for 1 minute. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Add the crab meat and crawfish tails. Season with 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of Old Bay or cajun seasoning, 1/2 tsp black pepper and 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper.
Add 1 cup of pepper jack cheese and 1 cup of parmesan. Add 1 cup heavy cream and stir well. Add 1 tbsp of chopped green onions.
Pour the mixture into an oven safe dish.
Top with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and put into the oven. Cook 15-20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and browned.
Be careful while removing from the oven, it is extremely hot. Serve with toasted french bread, crackers or chips and ENJOY!
