German Chocolate Brownies
German Chocolate Brownies
Since today is my birthday, its only fitting that I make my favorite dessert, anything German Chocolate. Since I made cupcakes last year, I decided to switch it up and make brownies. They turned out absolutely amazing!!!! These might be my new favorite :) I am all about simple and easy, I am using a box brownie mix, which works just as great. I just spruced it up a bit. Add 1 box of chocolate brownie mix to a bowl. Instead of using water, use 3 tbsp of buttermilk, to give it that “extra german chocolate flavor”, 2 eggs and 2/3 cup of vegetable oil and whisk well.
Chop 1 4oz bar of German chocolate and add it to the batter. Mix well.
Pour the batter into a 9x9 greased baking pan.
Bake in a 325 degree oven for 32-35 minutes or until fully baked. Remove from the oven and set aside.
While the brownies are cooling, add 1 stick of butter, 1 cup of brown sugar and 3 egg yolks to a sauce pan and stir.
Once the butter starts to melt, add 3/4 cup of evaporated milk and stir well.
Add 1 1/2 cup of chopped pecans and 1 1/2 cup of sweetened coconut flakes and stir well. Cook until the sauce starts to thicken and remove from the heat. It will get thicker once cooled.
Once the frosting has cooled, spread it on top of the brownies.
Cut the brownies into even squares. Serve and ENJOY!
